WHAT IS REIKI?

REIKI is pronounced "RAY-KEY"

REI means universal spiritual consciousness & KI means vital life force energy.

It is the Divine Consciousness called REI that guides the life force energy of KI in the practice which is called REIKI.

Therefore, REIKI means Spiritually guided universal life force energy.

The symbol at the right is Japanese Kanji for REIKI.

Dr. Mikao Usui began a 28 year search for enlightenment in Japan during the late 1800s.  During a 21 day fast, while on Mt. Kurayama, he received sartori - a zen term for seeing ones own true nature (enlightenment).  Almost immediately, Usui Sensei discovered/re-discovered that the energy he received could be used for healing.  It is said that REIKI is how both the Buddha and Jesus healed.

Usui Sensei founded Gakkai (a learning society) to teach and practice REIKI RYOHO (healing method) in Tokyo - an organization which continues to this day using the traditional methods of Usui Sensei.

There are many kinds of healing energy and all of them have KI or life force energy as one of their important parts.  REIKI is a special kind of healing energy - a Universal Heart Ray energy which is guided by The Divine Source - which can be used/channeled ONLY by someone who has received attunements/initiations for it's use by a Reiki Master Teacher. 

When a properly trained and attuned practitioner calls upon REIKI, the Spiritually Guided Universal Life Force energy first fills the body of the practitioner and is then directed through their hands into the body of the recipient via use of specific hand placements which have been known, researched and used since the time of Usui Sensei.   The REIKI energy passes into the body of the recipient to the cellular level assisting every cell to be healed, harmonized and balanced.

Just as when striking a tuning fork and laying it on a table, the table vibrates at the same frequency, the same thing happens to the recipient when receiving REIKI energy which gives every cell the opportunity to return to an anatomically perfect functioning state.

REIKI has no limitations on what is can treat or heal on body, mind, spirit or emotional levels.

What does REIKI Treat?

REIKI is both powerful and gentle.  During the long history of it's use it has aided healing of virtually every known disease and injury, including serious problems like multiple sclerosis, heart disease, cancer,  and HIV/AIDS as well as insomnia, fatigue, headaches, colds, flu, sore throat, cuts, bruises, broken bones, sunburn, skin problems and impotence.  

REIKI heals, harmonizes and balances the body, mind, spirit and emotions down to the DNA/cellular level. It is ALWAYS beneficial and works to improve the effectiveness of all other types of therapy. 

NOTE **** REIKI is NOT a replacement for qualified allopathic medical or psychological care.  It should be used ONLY as an adjunct to same and you should never stop taking any allopathic medicine or stop allopathic medical or psychological treatment without first discussing same with your physician.

What is a REIKI Session?

REIKI sessions can be either in person, with practitioner and client in the same location OR absentee/remote, with practitioner and client in different locations (occurring at a pre-set time).

The client remains fully clothed through-out the session and lies or sits in a relaxed state.  

REIKI sessions begin with the practitioner filling their body with Spiritually Guided Universal Life-Force Energy and then directing through their own hands into the client.

A session feels like a wonderful glowing radiance.  The client may feel heat, coolness, tingling and/or pulsating.  Many clients experience spiritual enlightenment and/or have esoteric experiences during treatment.

A REIKI session has many benefits for both client and practitioner, including positive states of consciousness and spiritual experiences.

The treatment can vary from specific injury to full-body and can range from 15 minutes to more than an hour.

Does REIKI replace traditional allopathic medical care?

ABSOLUTELY NOT.  REIKI works in harmony with all other kinds of treatment.  You should continue to receive regular medical or psychological treatment while receiving REIKI treatments.  

REIKI will improve the results of any medical treatment as it acts to reduce negative side effects such as those from chemotherapy, surgery and other invasive procedures. It shortens healing time, reduces or eliminates pain, reduces stress and helps create optimism.  It has been noted that patients receiving REIKI leave hospitals earlier than those who don't.

REIKI has also been used in conjunction with psychotherapy to improve the healing of emotional trauma and other issues. Its psychological benefits can include improved memory and greater self-confidence.

While REIKI is spiritual in nature, it is NOT a religion.  It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn, receive or use REIKI.  In fact, REIKI is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not.  

Because REIKI comes from a Higher Power, it enables many people to go beyond intellectual concepts and directly experience their religion.

There are REIKI practitioners of every persuasion of religious belief and/or non-belief including Catholic Nuns, Buddhists, Muslims, traditional and reborn Christians and more.

A REIKI practitioner is simply the vehicle to bring the healing energy through to this plane of existence. It is up to the being who is receiving the treatment to allow it to work and use the energy for what the body does best - HEAL.

I have seen and experienced what have been termed miracles happen as a result of REIKI.  Among them are:

• I spent well over 40 years of living in the depths of the darkness of depression.  I had tried every conceivable type of allopathic care and chemical medicines to help and although some of them were valuable for short periods of time the side-effects of their use were unbearable and after more than a few months of use lost their ability to help. I then took an extremely well done and delivered REIKI course and became certified as a REIKI Master.  It was the beginning of a new life for me and it began the journey which  enabled me to begin to get in touch with my TRUE Soul Self and begin my transformation to a being of LOVE and LIGHT.

• A family member had severe flu-like symptoms just before she was scheduled to attend a very important conference. After a remote session, the symptoms disappeared. She was able to attend the conference and function with boundless energy.

• A therapist friend, who has received many types of energy treatment over the years became ill with the flu and was unable to work for a few days. After a remote session was used she not only felt better but commented that the REIKI energy was the BEST and most STRONG that she had ever felt and she had experienced REIKI and other healing modalities before.

• A friend had a fall and was experiencing severe knee pain and swelling resulting in an inability to walk well. After a treatment, the knee was not only better, but she commented that during the treatment, she had strong spiritual experiences and felt more energy than she had felt in some time.

• I rescued a little 9 week old dog who had been very poorly treated and was in ill health. He had NO trust in anyone and was afraid of everything. He was riddled with worms and fleas and his coat was a terrible mess. He didn't want to be touched and was just miserable.  Immediately upon arriving home, I began to give him REIKI treatments 3 times a day and within a week (with the aid of our trusted vet) his worms and fleas were gone and his coat was as soft and shiny as alpaca wool and he began to feel comfortable enough that he started "acting out" - digging in plants, barking at me when I told him "NO", etc.  A superb sign that he felt safe enough to explore his world.  He is now almost 6 years old and is now a dog whose entire being is dedicated to spreading LOVE and LIGHT wherever he goes. He has never met anyone he didn't like and thinks his job is to share LOVE with everybody.  Weighing only 8 1/2 lbs., he has complete trust in his world and now demands REIKI first thing every morning and again every evening.

These are only a few of the phenomenal stories and healing experiences I have experienced directly by using REIKI. Everyone who has received REIKI energy ALWAYS comes back for more and almost all of the become energy "junkies".

REIKI Sessions  feel much like being wrapped in a warm, comfortable blanket.  As you relax and allow the energy to flow through you - tension, anxiety and fear are released and feeling of peace, wholeness and well-being are experienced.  You emerge from the session feeling refreshed, revitalized and centered.  It is a wonderful gift to give yourself or others!

Many people report feeling tingling or pulsing of the energy, heat or coolness or flow of energy through their body.  Many people fall asleep during the session due to the extreme sense of relaxation which REIKI sessions offer.

In-person Sessions:

While the client lies fully clothed on a Reiki table (similar to a massage table) or sits in a chair (for those who are unable to get on a Reiki table) the Reiki practitioner uses a series of light hand placements - which correspond to energy meridians - on specific areas of the body and channels the Reiki frequency of Universal Life Force energy through their hands to the client.

The only responsibility of the client, during the session is to relax and enjoy - to be a sponge and soak up the energy.

Sessions are conducted in a warm, comfortable and nurturing environment with soft lighting, candles,  fountains, sacred objects and soft relaxing music.

Remote  Sessions:

At an agreed upon time, the recipient either sits quietly in a comfortable chair, or lies down on a bed or sofa, closes their eyes and becomes a sponge, enjoying the quiet time to soak up the energy.  I suggest that the recipient honor them self by dimming the lights & using candles, fountains and/or soft relaxing music during the session.

It is necessary that the client not be operating machinery or driving because of the intense relaxation provided during the session.

After the session is complete, Rev. Wendi contacts the recipient via email or internet messaging to answer questions, etc. OR the recipient may telephone Rev. Wendi at their expense.
